What is a Brow Lift?
Our aging bodies do not make as much collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid as they did when we were younger. As a result, lax skin may begin to show up in certain places that are bothersome and hard to deal with. Since our eyes are the first thing that other people are likely to see, patients often notice skin laxity here first. Your brow line is a common place for drooping skin to show up. Fortunately, there is hope!
Brow lift surgery, also known as a forehead lift, looks to lift and tighten a patient’s forehead skin effectively. In doing this, the patient will have a smoother, more youthful-looking brow line and forehead.
What are the Benefits of a Brow Lift?
Brow lifts are specifically designed to lift and tighten the skin of your brow and forehead. Since much of our expressions come from our brow line and eyes, some worry that they may be misjudged in social situations because of something that is mostly out of their control. Many of our patients worry that people think they are sad, angry, or tired when it is really just the signs of aging showing in a less than ideal spot.
Brow lift surgery can:
- Lift your brow line
- Improve facial symmetry
- Give you a more youthful appearance
- Improve your facial expressions
- Remove forehead lines and wrinkles
- Help you regain self-confidence
What Will Brow Lift Surgery Entail?
Dr. Gale will schedule your brow lift surgery in the ENT center of Utah, one of the very best facilities in the region. Since this surgery is an invasive operation, you will be required to go under general anesthesia.
Once Dr. Gale begins the surgery, he will use one of the following brow lift techniques:
- Endoscopic brow lift: In this method, Dr. Gale will insert a tiny camera and another specialized instrument into an incision behind your hairline. He will then lift your subdermal tissues and anchor them down.
- Coronal brow lift: Dr. Gale will make a long, horizontal incision behind your hairline. He will then lift your forehead skin until it overlaps with the scalp behind it. After removing the overlapping tissue, he will sew your scalp down.
- Hairline brow lift: For this option, Dr. Gale will make an incision across the top of your forehead, just before your hairline. He’ll then remove tissue from the top of your forehead to give you the perfect amount of lift.
After the procedure, Dr. Gale and his team will give you specific care instructions that will ensure that you have the best healing period possible. You can learn more about the procedure in the FAQ section below or reach out to Dr. Gale and his team at the ENT Center of Utah.
Why Choose a Brow Lift Over Other Procedures?
While brow lifts are not as invasive as full facelifts, they are still very effective in treating the top part of one’s face. Also, since a brow lift is a surgical procedure, many patients opt to have one done instead of less permanent facial fillers and injections. Botox, Dysport, and other non-surgical injectables require ongoing sessions to maintain results properly.
Brow lifts can also be combined with other options to give you the best possible outcome. Many patients decide to couple their brow lift with non-surgical fillers, eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), or other procedures. Dr. Gale will thoroughly discuss your options with you in consultation.

Brow Lift FAQ
Be sure to get plenty of rest. Keep your head elevated and use cold packs to reduce any swelling. Dr. Gale will also prescribe you pain medication to make sure that you are comfortable. You should also study and understand the post-op instructions that Dr. Gale will provide for you.
While browlifts may alter your hairline if performed a certain way, there are different techniques that will not. The hairline brow lift and endoscopic brow lift should not affect your hairline. Dr. Gale will make sure that you fully understand the scope of your procedure before your brow lift surgery.
It would be best if you stopped taking any drug or supplement that can increase bleeding. You will also need to stop smoking close to your surgery date and in your recovery phase as well.
While there is no way to stop the natural aging process altogether, brow lifts can generally last for a long time, as long as you properly maintain your skin.
